Everest Base Camp falls in the alpine zone of Nepal i.e. in between 4,000 to 5,000 meters which have very few permanent human settlements and no cultivation what so ever. As being the Himalayan region, it’s very hard to predict what the climate is going to be like due to certain changes of weather in the Himalayan region. But based on seasons and record of previous years, one can somewhat predict the outcome.
Winter - December, January, February
The winter season in Nepal starts from late December to end of February. These months are often termed as offseason having very powerful chilly winds blowing all over. Trekking to EBC or even climbing the summit is not recommended at all in this season due to the hardship of the environment. Frostbite, high winds, heavy snowfall, altitude sickness are some of the factors to mention.
Daytime Temp - 17 degrees C to - 15 degrees C or 0 degrees F to - 4 degrees F
Nighttime Temp much colder than the daytime
Wind: 8 – 12 mph
Spring - March, April, May
Spring is the best time for trekking to the Everest Base Camp. The EBC is full of tents and you can see lots of trekkers and mountaineers ready to summit the peak. The sky is pretty clear and the visibility of surrounding mountains are striking. This is also the climbing season as blowing winds are half the speed as of winter and temperatures are higher on a sunny day. However, nights and morning might be cold. At this period, you also get to observe the surrounding faunas of this region.
Daytime Temp 15 degree to 25 degrees C or 59 degrees to 77 degrees F

Summer - June, July, August
As monsoon is embedded in summer itself, there are chances of rainfall on the lower altitude (below 3500 meters) whereas snowfall at the higher. So trekking to the Everest Base camp is not recommended in this period. For the sake of avoiding the crown, one may trek on this period but high humidity would be the factor to be considered.
In between, there is also a post-monsoon season which lasts up to December and the cause of snowfall at the higher altitude.
Daytime Temp 25 degrees to 30 degrees C or 77 degrees to 86 degrees F
Nighttime Temp - 15 degrees C (min) or 5 degrees F
Wind: 4-6 mph
Fall - September, October, November
Another best season preferable to the EBC is the fall or autumn season. The only difference in between fall and spring is that – on spring, you get to observe the various flora of the region and surrounding but not in the case of fall. Having said that, other than the blooming flowers, the sky is clear blue, has cool temperatures, and all the surrounding mountains are visible. The humidity is comparatively very low in regards to summer.
