Overview

Everest Base Camp Via Jiri

This trekking trail to the Everest region has been used in the past and is still popular today for summiting Everest which was first ascended in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. This trekking offers not only views of the mountains but you also get to explore the culture, traditions, and livelihood of the local inhabitants of Sherpa communities in this well known Everest region.

This trek takes you to the close view of the highest mountain Mount Everest (8848 m) and you also get the glimpse of other mountains like Mount Lhotse (8516 m), Mount Nuptse (7861 m), Mount Ama Dablam (6812 m), Mount Pumori (7161 m), Mount Thamserku (6623 m) and several other peaks. The way to the Everest Base Camp has two routes; One from Lukla and the other via Jiri.

Jiri Everest Base Camp trekking experience will also take you to one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region i.e. Kala Patthar (4251 m, 13940 ft), with a sight of Everest and close peaks and beneath the peaks, you get the fascinating view of the Khumbu Glacier. One more attraction to observe in this trekking is the main festival celebrated by the Sherpa people - Dumje festival, which is held in the monastery. Our main trekking point starts from Jiri (1905 m) on the trail leading towards east through the dense forest hills and crossing several streams. We will be ascending up to Lamajura La Pass (3530 m).

Alongside this route, you get the striking mountain views which make your trail more memorable. After crossing the Lamjura La pass, and following towards the Dudh Koshi River north, we will be trailing to Lukla where most of the trail to the Everest region trekking begins and ascending further we reach Namche Bazaar.

And we will be acclimatizing here at this Namche bazaar. The sights come to be even more enthralling with each step we trek to our destination as we get the splendid mountain views of like Mount Kwangde Ri (6187 m), Mount Thamserku (6623 m), Mount Nuptse (7861 m), Mount Lhotse (8516 m) and Mount Ama Dablam (6812 m). The trekking follows the Namche bazaar and heads to the Gokyo Lake and then to the Everest Base Camp.

This trekking is best attempted in the month of March until the end of May and also is suitable from September to end of December. Like we the Accent Himalaya have arranged this itinerary in such way where you get to cover up all the views of the Himalayas, exploring the Buddhists monasteries and the lifestyles of the Sherpa inhabitants, etc. If this departure does not fit your vacation schedule, please let us know so that we can arrange different departure date according to your schedule.
