Overview
In the Langtang region, trekking to this Tamang Heritage is newly added trekking route which has also been one of the popular trek spot located in the north of Kathmandu.
This trekking is one of the easy trekking trails in the Langtang region as being close to Kathmandu where one can easily reach without an airstrip. It is one of the interesting trekking to explore the ethnic people of the Langtang region - Tamang communities whose culture, traditions etc. are somewhat similar to Tibetan communities. This trekking trail was developed by the tourism board of Rural Poverty Alleviation Program as to elevate the poverty level of this region. Doing so, many travelers have been visiting this beautiful valley and slowly the standard of living of people here has been progressing.
On this Lamtang Tamang Heritage trek, you get to explore ethnic Tamang communities, get splendid views of the mountain ranges and visit many sacred lakes in this region - Gosaikunda, Bhairavkunda, Parvatikunda, and Dudhkunda. Besides these, we might also spot endangered wildlife like leopards, black bear, musk deer and even rare red panda on the trail.
Our actual trek begins at Syrabesi, 8-9 hours scenic drive from Kathmandu. From here, we are headed to the small village named Gatlang. Over here we get to capture the panoramic mountain views of Ganesh Himal (above 7000 m), Langtang Lirung (7240 m), Shispangma (8027 m) and several other peaks. From Gatlang, we descend down towards Tangbuche. Here we observe the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. Further, we are headed towards Tatopani. We first reach hydropower dam and then to Tatopani which is a very famous natural hot spring. We can stop over here if you like!
And continuing our trekking further and visiting several monasteries on the trail, we reach Lama Hotel and then trek to the Langtang valley crossing several forests. On the trail, you get to observe the Mani walls which are scriptures in the Tibetan language with some prayers. You also get to see several Chortens as you get going. We then reach to Kyanjingomba beautifully surrounded by the mighty Himalayan mountains and astonishing Himalayan glaciers and Kyanjingomba has one of the biggest monasteries for us to explore. Retracing back, on the way we reach and interact with several Tamang communities to explore culture, traditions and enjoy their warm hospitality.
To fully relish this beautiful trekking region steadily by covering all the routes, one should have at least of two weeks holiday. This trekking can be done in all seasons. Detail Itinerary
Day 1 - Kathmandu: Arrival Day
Our representative will pick you up and drop you at your respective hotel from the airport. After freshen up, we will visit the Accent Himalaya office. In the evening, we will attend the welcome dinner hosted by Accent Himalaya with a delicious taste of Nepalese culture and tradition.
Day 2 - Drive to Syabrubesi
Today we will drive towards our destination, Syabrubesi, north of Kathmandu valley along with River Trisuli. We will see the eye-catching views of green landscape gold lighting, Rice field, and laughing mountain peaks.
Day 3 - Trek to Gatlang village
Today we start our exclusive trekking steps heading towards to Gatlang village. We will ascend for few hours and reach the viewpoint from where we able to see the range of Gosaikunda, Langtang Lirung, and also Ganesh Himal with the glorious views. After short ascending, we finally reach the village of Gatlang, Tamang settlement.
Day 4 -Trek to Tatopani
Early in the morning, we start our trek adventure after having our breakfast of Tamang foods. Early in our trip, we trek down to River Bhotekoshi and crossover the suspension bridge. We also see the Chilime Hydro Power thereby. We climb up until we reach Tatopani, with amazing hot springs where we dip and soothe our tired muscles.
Day 5 - Trek to Nagthali
Our journey of the day is little tough than earlier. We will climb up on the steep ascent to reach Nagthali viewpoint, the highest point of our journey with an altitude of 3165 meters. Here from we will be mesmerized by the beautiful views of Langtang Lirung, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, and sanjen. After spending some time there, we will descend down to the Village called Thuman. On the path towards Thuman, we will see the ancient monasteries.
Day 6 - Trek to Timure village
From Nagthali, Thuman, we continue our journey towards another Tamang village, Timure village. Our journey of the day is little easy then of last day, with plenty of time to enjoy the landscape and taking photos. We will get down to Timure River, nearby the Tibetan border in RasuwaGadi, divided of countries through the suspension bridge in between. Then we come back to Timure village at 2050 m.
Day 7 - Trek to Briddim village
We will walk-ups and down to reach our last destination to visit the Tamang village, Briddim village, situated at the base of Langtang at 2235 m. We cross the rhododendron forest to reach the village.
Day 8 - Back to Syabrubesi
With the amazing experience of Tamang culture, we return to Syabrubesi. We walk alongside Bhote Koshi River, cross through more villages with traditional houses and fields.
Day 9 - Return to Kathmandu
Today we finally are going to end our trek on Langtang region’s Tamang village. We take the bus from Syabrubesi and return to Kathmandu. We enjoy the farewell program in the evening with the celebration of trip succession.
Day 10 - Final day
Today, we will finally going to be separated with the speed of the fly. Our representative will drop you at the Tribhuwan International Airport. However, if you want more, then we are with you for your next adventure destination.
